I am a supporter of both The Hawkeye Initiative and Escher Girls. I believe there is a problem with poorly drawn or conceived sexy images that ultimately lack sexual awareness and empowerment for females but I believe there is ultimately an issue with both projects.

Graceland 11/21/12
This week, Ziah gives out awards to each comic totally unlike that other place that won awards and is super great. Anyway, Ziah did this because there were a lot of great things out this week, and he didn’t want to only give a best award. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Except turkeys. I guess it’s kind of an unfortunate holiday.

The stakes rise. Slowly. Not enough to wake its sleeping partner from its dreamy bliss. But the stakes rise. In “Lucky,” the first “Clint Barton Hawkeye Adventure,” Matt Fraction and David Aja introduce the titular character in a story so relaxed that it ran a danger of underwhelming the superhero audience. A quick search around the discussion blogs showed me that by and large, the audience was on board with it. “This is what he [Clint Barton] does when he’s not being an Avenger.” It was a simple hook that fits right in the groove of a certain genre of pop-action stories.
