My Own Brand Of Justice League By Chris Brown

When I was asked to design a Justice League for a website, I can’t lie and say that my first reaction was to make a team of the most obscure, mainstream repulsing characters possible. Like an entire team of G’Nort clones in separate, racially insensitive stereotypes and basing it in Omaha, Nebraska.

But, I thought better of that.

Justice League America:

I consider the main JLA as a national guard, but moreover, a super powered community outreach program that ALSO defends. The base of operation isn’t centralized, and the teams are scrambled due to proximity and skill set. When not active, the membership is involved in community outreach and charity work. They are the face of the Justice League Program to the American people.

This team is mainly composed of:

  • Mister Miracle and Big Barda
  • Killowog
  • Plastic Man
  • Hourman And Jesse Quick
  • The Flash – Wally West
  • Batgirl – Stephanie Brown

There are other alternates, and the threat presented, again, changes the team scramble and dynamic. So, inherent in that statement, there’s exciting opportunity for conflict and cohesion there. And while I may hit on the community angle a lot, this team also handles major events that interact with the American Public as a whole. Like, you know, Starro.

JLElite

Justice League Elite is a Task Force. Simply put, it handles things that JLA doesn’t want to and cannot be associated with. They move in shadow, they move efficiently and they solve problems. The team is composed of:

  • Guy Gardner
  • Captain Atom
  • Azrael
  • Captain Cold
  • Arrowette
  • Lady Blackhawk
  • Mr. Terrific
  • Nemesis

Hourman – Rick leads a double life, it seems. one of the “switch members” appointed by Terrific and Guy. Jesse is unknowing of this, and Rick intends to keep it that way, as none of JLElite’s methods (or Rick’s while operating in such) areā€¦ acceptable to her.

The first arc introduces the JLA, and sets up the concept of a world where superheroes are slowly being accepted, but still feared. The JLA is a coalition of the super powered focus all over the united states agreeing to work together for the common good of their communities and for the nation at large.

In a world like that, while the JLA is necessary, but there are echoes of a world far worse coming. Shadows and whispers of the coming of someone called Per Degaton. Who is he, and where did he come from? What does he want? And who are the Injustice Society?
